Display, clean, and close the project

The result this method helps you reach.

The complete method

One controlled decision at a time.

  1. 1

    Choose a stable landing

Use a level tray or surface away from steps, handrails, exits, curtains, dried plants, and the main walking line.

  2. 2

    Test after dark

Check visibility, glare, tipping, route width, and the secured battery light from the height of arriving visitors.

  3. 3

    Clean and separate

Wash and dry tools, discard tape and contaminated paper appropriately, and store the battery light separately.

  4. 4

    Close the loop

Compost untreated pumpkin material where accepted, use a local food-scrap program, or follow local disposal guidance.

Practical notes

What to notice.

  • Remove every battery and non-organic attachment before composting.
  • A display becomes finished when it is no longer stable, not when the calendar says so.

Common mistakes

What changes the risk.

  • Placing pumpkins on stair treads
  • Leaving tools wet
  • Composting batteries, tape, paint, or pins with the pumpkin

Adapt the method

Keep the outcome.

  • Move the display to a low table beside, not inside, the route.
  • Photograph and retire the pumpkin early before bad weather.
  • Use a reusable no-carve lantern where compost access is limited.
